He could have left Will in the care of Margot and Alana to recover from the dose o’ paralytics he’d been given, and slipped way himself to freedom.
He also didn’t have to take Will back to Wolf Trap. His cliffside home would have been closer and given it was unknown to the FBI, much safer.
Hannibal really risked getting caught just to tuck Will Graham back into bed.
